Year of Thomas Merton

This is the year of the cenntenial of the birth of Thomas Merton.  He was born January 31, 1915 in France.   I will endeavor to write about his thoughts and his influence on the lives of the many who have read his works and are fascinated by his legacy.  There is a movie, in the future about his life entitled the "The divine comedy of Thomas Merton"   His over 70 books and countless biographys both his own "Seven Storey Mountain", heavily censored by the Abbot at Gethsemani and his journal entries reveal a man both spirtual and human in all aspects.  The personal journals along with other of his unpublished writings are kept at Bellarmine University in Louisville Kentucky.  I urge all to consult those to get the true man.   He was a articulate, expressive personage seeking contemplation in an era of
some expression control by the catholic hierachy, who bursts through in his journal writings to speak to us beyond death of what it truly means to be human.....
